How to Use the Solvit Telescoping Pet Ramp

To use the ramp simply set the angled, upper end of the ramp on the surface to which your pet is trying to climb. Unsnap the safety release strap then pull out the inner slide to the required length and set it on the ground. It's important the rubber feet on the upper and lower ends of the ramp are resting firmly on a stable surface. The advanced design of the ramp will lock it in place when weight is applied. When finished simply push the inner slide back into the closed position, resnap they safety release strap and stow in a convenient place.

We recommend holding your pet's collar or guiding them with a leash as they go up and down the ramp. Make sure your pet walks on the high traction surface and stays away from the edges of the ramp.

Training your Dog to use the Solvit ramp.

Proper training to use the ramp without fearing it is essential. This is achieved by allowing your pet to become familiar with the ramp prior to first use.

• Lay the ramp flat on the ground and place treats or familiar dog toys on the ramp.
• Offer reassuarnce and praise as you train your pet to walk on the ramp in this position.
• Incline the ramp in small increments and continue training before using with a vehicle.

Cleaning and Maintenance.

The Solvit Dog Ramp is easy to keep clean. The aluminium rails on the ramp are pre-lubricated with household paraffin wax. Re-application should not be necessary. The plastic and aluminium parts of the ramp can be cleaned with any standard household cleaner. The high traction tread material can be cleaned with mild detergent and a stiff brush.

Warranty.

The Solvit Pet Ramp is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one year. The ramp is designed to be used only by pets. It is not intended to carry humans or heavy loads. Using the ramp in this way voids this warranty.

A. The telescoping feature makes the Deluxe Telescoping Ramp easier to use and more versatile than folding ramps.  The Ramp can be used at any length between 39"-72" to adapt to various situations.  To deploy the ramp, simply rest the top end on the upper surface, slide it out to the desired length, rest the bottom on the lower surface and it's ready to go.  To stow, simply slide it back into itself and store.  It's that easy.

Q. Up to what height can the Solvit Deluxe Telescoping Pet Ramp be used ?

A. When fully extended to 1.83m (72 inches) we recommend using the Deluxe Ramp on heights of 65cm (30 inches) or less.  The high-traction walking surface helps a great deal on steep climbs.  Since the physical condition of every pet is different, your experience may vary by a few inches.  It may be necessary to assist your pet as it goes up the ramp, if the incline is too steep for them. 

Q. Can you "lock" the Deluxe Telescoping Pet Ramp in an extended position ?

A. It is not necessary to "lock" the Ramp in an extended position for normal use.  Always make sure the ramp is deployed properly, with the rubber feet in contact with a stable,  flat upper and lower surface.  When weight is placed on the ramp, the two ramp sections will "bind" on each other thus preventing any unwanted movement.  Only if the upper or lower surfaces on which the ramp is deployed are not stable (don't use on ice, unstable rocks, etc.) is it possible for the ramp to move while in use.  The ramp does have a locking feature when in the closed position, to prevent unwanted extension while carrying or traveling.  

Q. How much weight will the Solvit Deluxe Telescoping Pet Ramp hold ?

A. The Deluxe Pet Ramp is rated for pet use only.  It has been tested to hold 180kg (400 lbs), but we suggest allowing only one pet at a time to use the ramp, to be safe.  It should be adequate to carry any size dog.

Q. Can I use the ramp with a wheelchair ?

A. No. The Deluxe Dog Ramp is intended for pet use only and has not been tested for use with wheelchairs or other loads.
